I'd agree with that critique! I was hoping for a more straightforward look into medieval theology, but the modern examples took up most of the book. I recently found a Theology in the Middle Ages anthology at a thrift store with excerpts from all the prominent theological writers of the time, so maybe I just need to dive straight into the sources themselves.
